I know this is a bit late but I wanted to congratulate all of my students that competed at the Michigan Open this past weekend. Out of 11 competitors we ended up taking home 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Even for those that didn’t medal, stepping onto the mat itself, win or lose, is a win in my book.
I want to especially thank Randy Barton and Kyle Zimmer for helping with the coaching when we had 5 competitors staged. I even want to thank David Strickland for throwing out the random good instruction even if it was mixed with a bunch of “just smash that” and “the guard is open” comments (I kid, i kid).
Lastly, thanks to those who helped put on the Michigan Open Jiu-Jitsu Tournament. It was my first competition 9 years ago and is a good local testing ground of Jiu Jitsu talent.
